The Arborary is a thoughtfully reimagined gathering space set in the foothills of the Berkshires, designed for flexible use and moments of true pause.

The Story

The Arborary began as a deeply personal project—first imagined as the setting for our own wedding. We sought to create a space that felt humble, grounded, and uniquely ours; a place where our favorite people could gather and feel the same connection to this land that we do. From the beginning, the goal was to create a space that encouraged slowing down—where meals stretch long, conversations linger, and the environment feels homey rather than prescriptive. That original intention continues to guide how The Arborary is used today.

The Setting

Set on ten acres, The Arborary is housed in a restored Morton horse barn that was once abandoned and carefully rebuilt from the inside out. The original stalls were removed, usable materials were salvaged, and a new concrete slab was poured to support a clean, contemporary interior.

The barn is 1,000 square feet of open, easy space. We kept the design simple and intentional, using warm plywood throughout to give it a clean but cozy feel. It’s inspired by that minimal Scandinavian look we love, creating a quiet, neutral backdrop where your day can just happen naturally, without a lot of fuss.

We put a simple, open kitchen right in the center of things. It’s got all the essentials—stove, oven, induction burners, and plenty of plates and glassware for up to 140 guests. Think of it as a cozy, flexible workspace rather than a commercial kitchen. It’s perfect for everything from chef-led dinners to DIY workshops if you're willing to get a little creative with the space.

From pro sound and dance lighting to the easy flow between the barn and the fields, we’ve tried to think of everything. While our permanent restrooms are planned for down the road, we currently provide top-tier restroom trailers that offer all the modern comforts you’d expect—keeping things easy and effortless for you and your guests.

The Experience

The best part of the barn? The way it opens up to the land. We’ve got wildflower fields, wooded trails, and a spring-fed pond that practically begs your guests to go for a stroll.

It’s a place of slow-moving fog and long afternoon shadows—a setting that feels grounded and easy. We didn't want the outdoor spaces to feel like an afterthought; they’re the heart of the experience, letting the seasons and the light do most of the decorating for you.
